how can LR sell you a car then preach on how to drive it? the car should be designed to suit all driving , city or motorway. If it isnt its their fault

the small tank isnt dpf cleaner its adblue, urea injected into the exhaust to reduce emmisions, nothing to do with dpf. At work

It is CG, Adblue is injected into the exhaust stream and is entirely different. This alternative DPF system has another tank for the fuel. Citroen and Ford use a different regenerator to Freel's, a FL2 has it's DPF close to the manifold so relies on a higher temperature.

not entiley true yes ecu does adjust the burn slightly but vehicle still has to be driven above 2,000 rpm for approx 20 to 30 mins according to the instruction sheet this is most important if the car is only doing town work otherwise dpf will become blocked if the car is dooing mixed driving motorway/town it should not pose a problem does anybody know if this adative is avalable rainy-city

That's what I said
The additive is this http://www.dpf-cleaning.com/shop.html scroll down a little Note it is not compatible with vehicles that have automatic additive systems

Just driven from Lancashire to Birmingham, gentle drive not in any rush, the Car has not spent 20 mins or more above 2000 rpm, does this therefore put it at risk?

It's strange as there doesn't appear to be a hard and fast rule to this. My driving in the summer takes in all habits of driving and would seem to fall in with their criteria for regeneration but 6 months of the cooler months I mostly travel to work and local 'B' roads, in my mind not enough to regenerate but I have never (yet) had a problem in my 13500 miles

You're welcome Alf, because of the problem I have read up on it and tried to understand it (as much as I can ), but cannot understand why some are not affected and others are when driving habits are similar. |

We have had a DPF since new, 4 years ago, and the first three yearly service an expensice (£30 quidish) DPF addertive has been added to the fuel tank. Never questioned it although last year I had to have a new DPF system fitted due to the DPF being FULL and they or I were unable to clean it using LR's stupid cleaning receipe.

It would appear to me that DPF filters were NOT fitted to earlier models. Is this true and if so when were they first fitted?

Depends where you mean - The Norwegian models had factory fitted DPF's to all FL2's built from July 2007. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc. |

Didn't the DPF become a standard fit for the UK on MY10 models. |
