any updates on these issues.

i've got 4 new tyres coming next week as the ones on there are nearly knackered and starting to degrade badly. my mech who just did the sevice suggested i got the tyres changed as they needed doing anyway (hes not selling me the tyres...) and then he'll have a look again if its still doing it. he said it could be a driveshaft perhaps.... it seems much worse at slow speeds where there really is a shimmy of the whole car.

It's a "common problem" but not just on FR2. Can be caused by:

tyre out of shape
worn bearings
driveshaft out of balance
propshaft out of balance
worn suspension bushes
worn steering joints.

I have had ALL of these on other vehicles, but never on a Land Rover (bless 'em).

well, just took delivery of my new grabber ats today. got them on at the local place and driving home - no wheel wobble at all. hopefully touch wood this has cured it. before the new tyres were changed it was wobbling and shimmying all over the place and the steering wheel was pulling and shimmying from left to right.

i had thought he worst and that it was a driveshaft/ bearing, some even said clutch/ dmf could have caused it.

hopefully it was just knackered tyres causing it as all seems fine now. the old tyres were cut up from flints on stone rds but had a little tread left but not a lot of grip. i guess they had had a hard life and were starting to come apart...
