The last car I had (BMW 320) you could open/close the windows up to a minute after the ignition was turned off. Much more convenient than the Freelie, where opening any door immediately renders the windows non-operable  Brian

To open windowa just press and hold unlock on your key fob. To close them just press and hold lock and the windows will close. depending on when you let go will determine how far up or how far down you want the windows

I also wonder how one would get out of a sinking car that had been driven into water if the window could not be easily and quickly opened Most peoples first reaction would be to open the door, and when that was found impossible the window would not open without fiddeling with the fob or start button - not all would think of doing that in such a situation  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

someone supply a car, Ive got a pond, Andy will be the sinking car test dummy.
On hand will be photographers, a table laden with scones, and a tractor/tow rope in case he doesn't surface within lets say 10 minutes.
I'll try and pick a tractor with a good battery in the hope it might start if needed.

Anyone got an accurate stop watch?
