Thanks for that piece of info. Something for all of us to watch for, and not a problem I've encountered before.

Jeep? Only if they've improved since I bought my Cherokee. I got fed up with the brakes falling apart. It was basically a pretty good engine built into a very cheap and shoddy car. Mind you, I traded it in for a Disco 300TDi, and that was rubbish too, so maybe it's just me!

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

any more updates on this as i've just started to lose coolant in an unexplained way. only done 50K miles so far. seems a bit random though.

haven't noticed anything coming out of the exhaust though...? oil dipstick wise seems fine and no oil in coolant.

France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Narvik Black
Re: Coolant Leak- Design fault?

[quote="Cagliere"]OK

I got a call from Lookers Park Royal who have been excellent. It is the EGR Valve and Cooler - cost £215 plus vat plus 3.2 hours labour. Total cost to fit £750. Big Cry

As I have not had my Freelander 2 for long I have not yet had the chance to get that familiar with working on it but even so, 3.2 hours to fit an EGR seems a bit out of the way....or is it me? Maybe it is one of those cases where they workshop time is quoted at 3.2 by LR but a savvy mechanic will do it in half an hour. John

Yes, I'd say the time to fit is excessive. I'd try Iain AKA 10forcash for a quote. Email him at iain@offroad-essentials.com

The time, in my opinion, is about right.
There are a lot of things to be removed (and installed back) in order to get to that cooler.
