Attack of the 5,2ft woman

My wife is a little bit vertically challenged and she struggled to reach the raised tailgate of the car in the showroom. By March she will be quite heavily pregnant so stretching up that high wont be wise. Our dealer offer to fit some sort of pull cord/strap inside the tailgate. I just wondered if anyone else has had/sorted this problem?
Could I use a rope to stop the tailgate raising so high? or would this lead to me 5,11 walking into to it?
A solution she didnt approve of is to always reverse up to one of those flowerbeds you get in supermarket car parks so she can stand on it and be raised 4 inches or so.

Disable the boot lock so that it cannot be opened unless you are in the car........................................ if she is going into the boot she must have been spending money and you don't want that do you.

You could of course show her how to fold and relock the rear seats so she can get into the boot that way, then she doesn't need to stretch at all How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I can understand the problem you have, my wifes a short arse aswell, though slightly taller than your other half and can reach the handle on her tiptoes.

I would opt for a some sort of grab handle/strap then she can pull it down, make sure she doesn't strain her self though,

I think if you keep the boot from been able to raise up fully you'll be wearing bandages on your head. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I would go with the dealer solution of having a pull cord fitted on the inside of the tailgate, as this is simple to do and unlike the other suggestion of limiting the tailgate opening height has no drawbacks as far as I can see.

Changing all of her shoes will obviously be far too expensive Carl....you know what women and shoes are like Laughing

My Mrs is also 5'2'' and my answer to this is that I enjoy my Landie, she runs round in her Corsa--she can see over the top of the wheel in that. It also doesn't have too big a boot so is a bit limited on spending too much money Laughing
Other benefits are that she can drive me to the pub on a Sunday without risking mine Bow down

As my dealer forgot to fit an extra handle and Mrs George has only grown outwards not upwards during pregnancy, I have fitted this handle made from a leather belt. So she can now close the tailgate with ease but my trousers keep falling down. Laughing

Nice solution cg, but not something I'm going to try and duplicate. My wife is also expecting, early april and only 5ft. She can't reach even on tip toes so I need to think of something that doesn't put any holes into my shiny new car Shocked Phil

In that case try using the screw that is inside the pull handle next to my belt as an attachment point.
But to be honest two neatly drilled holes in the plastic of the boot trim isn't really a big deal. a couple of bungs would fill them easy if required, better than Mrs George falling or over-stretching while preggers.
