Sat-Nav in and around derby

Did LandRover just forget to mp Derby in the recent updates - Was up in Derby yesterday for the first time in several years and the mapping information and directions were shocking Shocked

I've genuinely never had so much of a problem with it, even across France; there were roads that did not exists, it kept taking me down dead ends and it mapped an awful route. Generally speaking I am a fan of the built in SatNav but it sure did let me down yesterday.

Any one else have problems round Derby? Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

I know Derby anyway as I work there but it could be a Derbyshire thing cos when we did our peak district outing, Lee used the Sat Nav in his HSE to get us from Chatsworth to Monsal Dale but it just took us round in circles so I grabbed the trusty tomtom from the glovebox and it took us straight there.

I have heard a few people say the LR sat nav can be a bit iffy. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have very limited faith in the built in system. Seems to depend where you are. Soemtimes it's great and other times....

I happened one day to have it on in an area I knew and it was determined to make me take the 4th exit at a roundabout (i.e. 180 degs) in Chelmsford rather than the correct 2nd exit. So for a laugh I did what it said and it duly turned me round and sent me back to a roundabout I'd just been over and there it turned me round again! I could gone up and down the same strectch of road forever thanks to that system. Rolling with laughter

Very odd! What do I know....I'm only an Essex girl

Sounds like the marketing department at work, a bit like it used to say "Rinse and Repeat" on shampoo, makes you use twice the amount Rolling Eyes

I had similar problems in Derby a couple of weeks ago but put it down to a new road and old (2009/2010) sat nav disc. Having said that on my HSE i6 the sat nav once took us down narrow lanes and through farmyards in Cheshire. But I suppose it is a Land Rover and wanted to take the scenic route! Some are better than others although there aren't that many different mapping software programs. When you think of the thousands of miles of roads, the enormity of the mapping and the algorithms that attempt to map out the route, I can forgive a few mistakes.
I'll always remember being directed along this straight road when told to take a left, then the next left and the next left, then left again onto the same bit of road I had already passed. It wanted me to go into an eternal circle and when I did ignore it, it accepted my decision without complaining Confused
To me it's a brilliant aid but I'm always ready to argue with her and she can get a bit offish, like most women. Neutral

Never forget the time in my BMW 3 Series Coupe when the satnav took me off the mainroad onto a single lane road which turned into a track, my poor BMW was bumped to hell underneath and I ended up reversing all the back up coz it just wouldnt make it - on the plus side it made me buy a Land Rover!!!

Yes awful round Derby and district, Unless it is designed to make you do more miles and longer time. Mine refuses to let you use the A50. It has never gave it as an option on any route. Its not thats its old and from before road modifications as it clearly shows it on the screen but will take you via Swarkstone or A52. Also, when trying it from my house to Melbourne gave three routes all of 15 miles and I did it my usual way in 9 and took minutes off the journey.
