Wales 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Wait till the white stuff falls. If it does.
You may well get a better price.

I've always sold my vehicles privately and got a much better price.
And a better deal buying without p/x.
Bit of a pain, but can save thousands.

Ref Prius. Not it's all cracked up to be. You need to do plenty of speeding up and slowing down to get the best out of regenerative braking. You can get up to 60 mpg this way. However, on long M/way runs you could only expect 40/45 mpg.

There are more frugal i/c only cars out there.

And i think you could do much better with service costs if you shop around and haggle.
My last dealer service was £230. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Phoned 3 dealers in Scotland, 1 in Newcastle. 2nd Service - prices ranged from £430 to £480 in Scotland, £330 in Newcastle, Team Valley RR. If I keep it I'm just going to get it serviced at an Independent to LR specs.

MPG - probably about right. It all depends on the topology of the roads your driving on. If I go south on a certain A class road, I get 5mpg less than if I drive north on it, which is a lot flatter. People quote a lot of figures on here, but driving in Norfolk is different to the Lakes, besides which, don't hold a lot of faith in the cars read out.

Price, unfortunately abashed people have said, for a straight cash deal, you can't expect much more.

Service, I've never paid more than £260 for an A service and slightly more for a B from a main dealer in Scotland. Shop around and price match. Off the top of my head the 3rd year service was that and a free MOT. There is a sticky on servicing on the site, take a look.

If you want a sanity check, I'd ask why on earth 35mpg is such a problem if you've only done 17,800 miles in around 2 years! You'll know by now that depreciation is going to be by far your largest expense in changing.

I would like to get 35mpg out of my Stop-Start TD4 (I'm getting around 32-33) and I've done 14,500 miles in only 4 1/2 months!

Change it for a more economical car if you wish, but any marginal fuel savings will be decimated by the likely depreciation costs that you'll suffer. Don't do it!

England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

45,000 miles @ 45 mpg = 1,000 gallons = approx £ 6,000
45,000 miles @ 30 mpg = 1,500 gallons = approx £ 9,000

so a saving of approx £1,000 for an average of 15,000 mile a year

then look at depreciation ...................................... KEEP THE CAR.

you need to remember the dealer can have substantial overheads before he actually sells the car on, and this is reflected in his offer.

and if you were to trade the car in for something different you most likely would get no more, or even less !!

if you are unhappy with the car I would take the offer and move on.

you probably got a fair deal as you had no part exchange and a bit higher mileage.

You have to do what you want to do BUT if you and your wife like the car think about this:

The difference from getting 35mpg to 40mpg works out at about 30 gallons of petrol per year given your mileage.

This is in all probability less than £200/annum which pales into insignificance given the depreciation hit you will take.

By getting an Indy to service the car you will all but save this amount.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

ps - sorry Tandimann didn't see your post MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
