New to Here and New FL2 Owner.

Hi friends,

I have just joined the freelander forum and wanted to say hi etc.

I have owned a freelander before and after owning a VW Tiguan for 3 years decided to return to my preferred motor.... a freelander 2.

I picked up my beast on Thurs last week and am loving it..... can't think for the life of me why I went to VW for 3 years..... oh yeah I remember my old freelander was a 2.5ltr petrol model and the petrol costs were killing me!!!

Anyway like I say wanted to just drop by and say hiya. I have been reading the forum a lot and decided it was time to join now I am a very pleased / proud owner of my second freelander.

My FL2 spec is below by the way.

Yeah don't worry about the leg pullers..they do it to old and new members. Grey is good...like green!

There’s only one colour and its Black, thought I would mention it as the regular promoter of this on-going debate isn’t too good and thought it may cheer him up. You’ll be telling us next that you have a van (caravan) too Banging Head Laughing .

Any shade of grey is better than boring 'mucky after driving 5 yards' black Whistle Laughing

Anyway, you will find that all things equal on the tyre front, the FL2 will blow the Tiguan out of the water when driving in snow. It is the king of compact off roaders in the rough stuff too. Try an LR day to see for yourself.

Plus you have supreme kudos now. VW, Audi and BMW have prestige and good badges normally but in 4x4 world they are second rate punks to the LR kings! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Careful - there is a serious challenger to the king of the compact off roader title - albeit it's the Freelanders close relative the Evoque. I'm sorry to say I was seriously impressed by how well the Evoque handled the LRE Course at Rockingham, better than the already impressive Freelander 2 in my opinion. Now if they were to put the Freelander onto an Evoque chassis and suspension then it would be even better.

As the Doctor said, try and get yourself on an LRE day to see what your new toy can do. You will be impressed despite my comment above.

If LR can achieve those abilities with the Evoke, it makes you wonder how good the FL3 will be off road and on (assuming there will be one). Perhaps LR will fit air suspension to the FL3 as some have called for. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

As long as there is a Discovery with air suspension I don't think we'll see a Freelander with it, it would apparently take too many sales away from Discovery, or so I've been told.
