Not noticed it on mine and to be honest it shouldn't be doing that.

Surely a warranty issue! Would not worry |

"Arsepiece" pronounced. ARRSe..piece! It looks like it has been rubbing from side to side, I will check mine, it would surely be a warranty issue, if it continues then it would become a corrosion issue. Taz |

Looks like the plinth really should have a gasket between it and the tailgate to stop it rubbing the paintwork when it flexes as you grab hold of it to lift it up? |

Hi, Nice to hear main reason is resolved. How they repaired he lacquer? Spot respraying, tailgate swap, etc? Is this repairment noticeable or hidden under the gasket?
No, I'm not seeing when plinth is flexing. But I am sure that's rubbed. Maybe it shakes on poor quality roads and scrapes the lacquer. |

Just seeing the same problem on my (MY11) freely. What is the paintwork warranty? No rust but bare metal where the arrrsepiece meets the body of the rear door as in other pics in this esteemed forum.

I have had the tail gate on our 2011 freelander re done three times now under warranty due to the issue you mention. We have also had both front doors redone twice due to paint sag around the mirrors and along the external rubber window seal again all under warranty. |

Although your photo isn't loading for me, I too had the tailgate issue where the long handle had chipped away paint on both sides. Resprayed by dealer under paint warranty (mine is a used FL2). Gasket put underneath to stop it happening again. |
