Ultimate de-misting and de-icing I think. I believe it activates air con which is great for de-misting and coupled to the heated screens it makes short work of it. The PTC heater or whatever it's called activates at low temps to help warm the car until the engine warms up. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Thanks, that would make sense. I was going to ask if there is some sort of heater "booster" in the car as it seems that warm air starts to come through the windscreen vents in next to no time compared to any other car I've had. |

Yes there is, in the heater ducting there is a low wattage electrical heater to take the chill out of the blown air before proper warm up. |

Have to say, becoming more and more impressed with the Freelander 2's array of clever gizmos (2010 TD4e HSE, Balti Blue) but still waiting to have my winter tyres changeover later this week & then prayer mat out for snow here in Devon some time sooner rather than later |

On a similar note, but not worthy of a new thread, when the air-con is in "auto" mode does anyone know how it prioritises where to send air to?
