and if everyone has 'tyre shoes' the rozzers will be checking everyone for minimum tread depths, you can just imagine it "sorry Mrs Jones I dont care if you have only gone to get your pension, the tread on your left foot is under the limit, heres a £60 fine, oh and you cannot walk any further in those, have you got someone who can bring you a legal pair otherwise we will have to take you to the cells...." |

Recently changed my 17" alloys on Lassa AT 235/65/17, for 19" HSE alloys on Conti cross contact 235/55/19. Straight away noticed my MPG has dropped from 33.5 to 30. No change in driving style, and still driving the same old commute.

I fitted my 19's at 18000 miles and changed the fron't at 41000 miles, so thats 23000 miles, but they still had 3mm left, I changed them as the edges were wearing.

As my Continental M&S are just about past it at 15000 miles and the prospect of another hard winter, I'm on the hunt with replacements.

Last winter I was driving a Passat B6 - which handled like an upside down turtle in the ice & snow. The first car I saw having come a cropper (in ditch after a rural bend) was a Freelander 1. I bet he wished he had winter tyres fitted! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
