I fitted my 19's at 18000 miles and changed the fron't at 41000 miles, so thats 23000 miles, but they still had 3mm left, I changed them as the edges were wearing.

I have just taken delivery of two new tyres for the rear, Conti's again and I am now at 49000 miles and have 3mm left.

So the rears I got 32000 miles with 3mm left. I think they are an excellent all weather tyre. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

As my Continental M&S are just about past it at 15000 miles and the prospect of another hard winter, I'm on the hunt with replacements.
Now i know this has been done to death but I have just one question on tyre choice.
In many threads people mention Good Year Wranglers as being good, year round tyres. However in another thread I heard it mentioned that some people hated them in the snow.My question is, what Wrangler were people talking about?
Theres the Goodyear Wrangler HP All weather and The Wrangler AT and MTR, Duratecs etc.
I'm assuming everyone is talking about the All Weather version?

My Continental 4x4 Contacts have done 10500 miles and are at 6mm. The unused spare is 8mm.

Reference to Goodyear Wranglers usually relates to the HP version that is fitted as standard to some 17 inch Freelanders. I believe they are All Weather.

In my expereince of 2 sets of Continental and one set of Wranglers on a Freelander 2, I think the Wrangler was marginally better in snow than the Continental.

And before The Doctor comes along singing the praise of Winter Tyres - neither Continentals or Wranglers are as good in snow as a proper Winter Tyre but...................given the unseaonably warm weather and current long term forecast I'm taking a risk on sticking with my current tyres and banking the cost of the winter tyres. I've got snow socks and chains if it gets too difficult in the snow but never needed them in the Alps.

I know exactly where you're coming from - I have the same debate with myself all the time.

If I needed new tyres now I'd probably go for the Wranglers as over the years they have not let me down either in the UK or more importantly in the snow in the Alps. Just need to remember that in snow you'll need to adjust your driving style to match the conditions.

Last winter I was driving a Passat B6 - which handled like an upside down turtle in the ice & snow. The first car I saw having come a cropper (in ditch after a rural bend) was a Freelander 1. I bet he wished he had winter tyres fitted! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
