Freelander 2 tyre sizes

Help !
Is 235 the widest tyre that can be fitted to a Freelander 2 ?
I realise the tyres I have on currently are 235 - but will 245 fit
the actual tyres size currently on is 235/65/R17........is there enough clearance to cope with a 245
what is the width of the standard fit alloy for a Freelander 2 17" ? Have:
Freelander 2 SE...just brilliant
Discovery 3 HSE....the workhorse
Jaguar S Type....now eclipsed by the XF

I recalled reading previous posts saying up to 255 should fit. Hope it's true as I want to get them!

just to close off this thread...

I easlily managed to fit 245/65/R17s to my daughters Freelander 2
The clearances where the same & no problems encountered...
This gives scope for a wider range of winter tyres to be fitted
Mine were Vredestien Wintrac 4 Extremes.....I have these on my Disco & so far found them to be awesome

plenty grip in the snow, brilliant in the wet & seem to be long lasting (25k on the Disco with 60% tread left)

thay cost me £135 each. Have:
Freelander 2 SE...just brilliant
Discovery 3 HSE....the workhorse
Jaguar S Type....now eclipsed by the XF

blfarrar ... keep an eye on tyre wear on the Freelander. It has been known on some makes that fitting a wider tyre can be at odds with steering & suspension geometry resulting in uneven wear across the breadth of the tyre tread.

Might be useful to have a follow-up feedback from you when a few K miles have clocked up, hopefully to confirm all is ok. Also .. have you had a 4 wheel alignment check yet? For again, this can become even more significant with wider tyre profiles.

United States 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Zermatt Silver

I just installed 255/60R18s on my LR2 (general grabbers AT2). The fit is generally good, though during extreme turns it sounds like there is a little bit of rubbing of the front left tire against the sidewall. I haven't yet bothered to take a look and see what's causing that (It's possible that it's just a loose panel). Installed a hitch, stock roof rack, mantec skid plates, General Grabbers AT2 255/60/R18, and a rear access ladder. Also made a hitch-mount for the winch. Looking to install a front hitch, rooft-top basket, and lift kit.
