JLR - Please build the LWB Freelander Ventura Project L486

Freelander - Ventura - Project L486

Everyone I speak to wants this vehicle built. It would address the FL2's worst issue, loadlength.

I know the main reason is to add more seats for the school run, but a longer loadlength with more economy would be a huge seller. Sure they would lose some sales elsewhere in the LR range but they would add a massive extra number in compensation. Other manufacturers have vehicles in this segment - Mitsubishi, Citroen, Nissan Q, Peugeot etc all doing very well.

This is the one vehicle I would not hesitate to go out and buy. A spacious LR that does 40+mpg, the holy grail!

Why not build Ventura and then replace both the Defender and Discovery with variants of the DC100 Concept?

I agree it would probably sell well, but I don't like the looks.
I remember seeing a pic recently of what looked like a RR vogue that had another 1/2 metre added to the back end, looked totally wrong as the rear wheels were in the same place, giving it a huge overhang. Not sure if it was going into production, but it was damned UGLY Shocked

Really? I really like the look of this rendition, apart from the white roof. No doubt that's a cue to Defender but it doesn't work on this design.

I don't see the rear overhang issue with this design unlike the RR you mention. This Ventura looks very well proportioned imo unlike the FL2 which looks very short and stubby. FL2 GS Auto '58reg

My dealer reckoned it'd be approx £1200 more than a std swb FL2, was told that last year when they even had an approx launch date. Then it was scrapped for additional Evoque production.

Missed opertunity. There are many people wanting a larger (longer) 4WD that can carry more people and/or more luggage but return 40+mpg.

An easy vehicle or JLR to build and an incredible niche-filler but it isn't to be.....yet FL2 GS Auto '58reg

Looking at the size of the driver, it looks huge?

It will be years away yet and will feature an electric motor as propulsion, the options list will include different sound effects for the engine, with leaf blower being standard Rolling with laughter

Problem is that production line can't cope now with demand! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
