Help with tyre size

I am just about to change my 59 XS tdi Auto for an 11 plate XS SD4 Auto. The new one has 18" tyres fitted with Pirreli Scorpion M+S tyres.
Two questions, are the Scorpion Tyres any good and the second refers to the spare.
The new car comes with a can of foam, I have a full size spare but it's a 17". the dealer says I can use this on the new one fitted with 18" wheel as the circumfrence is the same. This does not sound right but I would like to keep a full size spare. Any advice/thoghts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your new car will have 235/60/18 wheels/tyres, your spare will be 235/65/17 wheel/tyre. Both have the same rolling circumference and diameter so yes, the 17" is a perfectly good spare. Thumbs Up

The Freelander 2 I drove at one of the Land Rover Experience Centres was fitted with Scorpion tyres. On the day I drove it there was snow and some ice and the tyres seemed to cope with the conditions without any real problames.

I had the Scorpions on my car from start.
In the first winter, I've passed through some experiences that made me decide that the next time I am using Scorpions on winter, brown pants are a must.

Can anyone tell me what the exact tyre fitted will be. There seems to be lots of pirreli Scorpion tyres out there.

Most common seem to be:

Pirreli Scorpion
Goodyear Wrangler
Continental 4x4 Contact

Alex, were they just M+S or a proper winter tire? I am asking as I just bought 4 Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snow (winter tires) and the reviews I've seen were very good...
