United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Sumatra Black
First 1000 miles 38.6MPG

Had my XS TDI 3 weeks now, 1000 miles - mainly commuting / A roads, not run it above 70 mph yet but onboard MPG 38.6

Enjoying the high position seeing things I have never noticed before.

Glad I got the manual ! 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.

Excellent Thumbs Up

If it snows you will find it is frankly superb at ploughing through it. It is also excellent off road if you ever want to take it off road.

'Doctor'I am booked on my half day experience 7th November, looking forward to driving someone else's car to see what a Freelander can do!!!
Main things I want to learn - how to deal with a 'skid' and driving in snow 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.

Please feel free to check out the snow pics in my gallery for a glimpse of some snowy action!

What you have to remember is that although you will plough through snow, you are trying to bring almost 2 tonnes of car to a halt so the key is braking with the gears as you should with any car and even if you get that juddering from the brake pedal, the advice from members on here is to keep applying rather than releasing and re-applying.

The Grass, Gravel, Snow mode as with the other TR modes will give a 50:50 power split front to back cos in normal mode it's something like 90:10 or 80:20 front to back. The GGS mode backs off the throttle even if you are heavy footed. Very clever.

Mine got through all the snow fine on the standard tyres but members advise winter tyres especially for braking and even better grip. I have now got some thanks to a kind intervention from my parents as I couldn't afford them myself.

Enjoy your LR Experience training - I certainly did! After driving around 35,000 miles a year for about the last 26 or 27 years I had no idea that I could learn so much about driving in just 1/2 a day.

Wish I could get the same mpg from mine. Most of my driving is on long-ish non stop-start journeys and mine is returning about 32-33mpg from a manual 2011MY TD4, that's doing around 3,000 miles a month. It's now done nearly 12,000 miles and it isn't getting any better...

Mine's 18 months old...done 18,000 miles and the compoota says average 39mpg since day one never reset it..not too bad really

I've done just over 1700 miles now and I'm getting between 38-41MPG. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual MY11 - 61REG Stratstone Mayfair
Sumatra black, cloth, DAB Radio, Park Distance Control Front, Privacy Glass, 17" Full Size Spare Wheel.

Done 300miles in mine now, getting 36 mpg Mr. Green Mainly B Road driving Under 50 mph Thumbs Up Current: Freelander 2 GS, Orkney Grey, Factory fit privacy glass, design pack and Clearview pack. Almond Leather ,rear spoiler,rear mudflaps.my13.

First 2300 miles in SD4 (auto) OBC indicates 34.6 mpg, actual 31.9 mpg (calculated brim to brim). Mainly rural roads and some A roads.

OBC generally about 8.6% optimistic.
