DPF's were mentioned on Watchdog last night, no LR vehicles but Nissan and Fiat were not spoken of pleasantly! £1000 for a DPF recharge an on a Qashqai Shocked and people say LR dealers are expensive.

this DPF filter may be a time bomb wating to go off in a few years Exclamation there are two systems on the dpf active and passive i think l/rover use the passive type wich the owner has to maintain it by driving with revs over 2,000rpm for approx 20/30 min i do mine at least once a month the other system that ford use req the use of a fluid that is forced into the filter to clean it i believe that to replenish the fluid is approx £200. my only concern is that in a few years are there going to be a lot of vehicles with blocked filters and some gararge making a killing out of it Question Confused:all landrover vehicles built for the uk 2011my models have the dpf fitted as standard Thumbs Up rainy-city

the fluid 'ad blue' is separate to the dpf. Wont be long until vehicles have to have both systems. At work

ad blu is derived from sheep pi Censored s i beleive now made syntheticly. as adblu is injected into the exhaust not to clean any filter all as it does is to lower the black smoke and soot particals untill they make it less complicated and cheaper cant see them fitting it to cars at the moment to expensive sensors on a truck run out at 400 quid each injector 500quid dosing unit is about 1500 quid the ad blu its self only costs approx 50p per ltr plus the extra tank we in the truck buiseness also have had a lot of drivers putting deisel into the ad blu tank with expensive results for the owner may be in a few years if better system is developed, rainy-city

But I am pretty sure you can fool the ad blue system with some dodgy electronic boxes if you are inclined.

adblue is urea solution, expensive problems are occurring if an ad blue vehicle is left parked up for a period of time, the urea either goes off or crystallises in the dosing pump ruining the pump £££'s.

A HGV driver delivering to our farm parked his truck up for a few months then found out the hard way he need to spend big money on the adblue system.
Some cars already have adblue, VW group I think, its in a little tank under the boot floor, holding enough to last between services, dealer tops it up at each service.

As with the dpf another case of technology being rushed out before it is fully tested. What will happen when these adblue cars start running up expensive repair bills in a few year time? Once out of the dealer service network. At work

cg would like to see how thay are going to get diesels to be euro 6 compliant again is this the european parliment to get us on public transport or reducing cars on the road by making it harder for car makers to reach these targets, the a.a now recomends the if you are buying a car and doing a lot of town driving dont buy a diesel with a dpf fitted my question is how are the taxi drivers going to go on as they might have to change filters every couple of months or will thay take it off and then put it back for the mot Question i cant see them using petrol or electric cars, rainy-city

Look at your VIN: if your car has a DPF fitted, the 8th symbol reads C. If it is A or B you either drive a non-DPF-diesel or petrol FL2. If you happen to be a 'lucky' DPF-FL2 owner, the life with your FL2 will never be boring and the LR service stations will get a good portion of your savings. Never ever again shall I trust the deceptive attractiveness of a LR-car Laughing
