Having sat inside and driven both an Evoque and Evoque Coupe on and off-road I do not agree that they feel small inside. I'm 6ft2in and even sitting in the back behind another over 6ft driver i had plenty of room.

Would I buy an Evoque? - probably not at the moment as I still prefer my Freelander 2 and if I was going to spend £40000 ish on a replacement I'd probably go for a Discovery or another Freelander.

As to offers - I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anything in the near future apart from a continuation of the deal that are currently available. Demand may have dropped but production is being adjusted to match demand with excess capacity being used to produce more Evoque's.

I am surprised, I thought they felt cramped, snug... Maybe I am just used to full-sized cars? One thing i have heard is that the Evoke instantly dates the FL2 maybe that's true and I reckon that's why some (modest) deals will come as will some spec editions. We shall see.

When is the next generation FL3 due? I know the LWB 7-seater was ditched - shame... FL2 GS Auto '58reg

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Seem to remember some mention of 2013/4 but that may have been superceded by plans for the new Defender in 2015 and probably a new Discovery.

It will be interesting to see if the 2012 MY Freelander comes much in the way of changes. An upgraded SatNav similar to Evoque is on the 2012 Disco 4 and RR Sport which also got the RR 8 speed auto gearbox.

Why should it have a Tata badge and not a Land Rover one?

You may not like the Evoque and there's a hell of a lot of focus on image gone into it, but I'm not sure why that makes it any less of a Land Rover product.

Maybe it seems a huge departure for LandRover? Reminds me of when Mercedes brought out the A-Class...

With LR having such a large array of models there is a risk of the marque's image, built mainly on the defender, being diluted.

Personally I would feel embarrassed driving an Evoke but I am pleased it's a success for LR. FL2 GS Auto '58reg

I think with Mercedes the issue was perhaps less about just the A-Class and more the perceived or actual "dumbing down" of the vehicle build quality.

Coming at this from having had the Boxster it's a bit like deja-vu as with those you get all sorts of Porsche owners where if it's newer than 1993 and is water cooled and not air cooled then it's not a "real" Porsche.

Each to their own but the reality is that times change and from what I can gather Tata have thrown an absolute pile of money into JLR, granted not out of altruism it's because they want to make a pile of money our of JLR, but I think people should knock the products if they're crap, not just because they aren't to individual tastes.

Victoria beckham hasn't had anything to do with the evoque, but she will be working on future special editions. The picture you have as a comparison is the lrx concept car the evoque is much bigger, although still a bit smaller than the freelander. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Evoque is taller than LRX but about the same length.
