Flashing red light (immobiliser?)

This is quite possibly something normal which I have simply failed to notice before.

Basically, I unlock the car and climb aboard and as I am inserting the fob thingy into the dash I have noticed the red light which I assume is the immobiliser light, is flashing very fast.

Is this perfectly normal just after unlocking the car? No issues with starting the car so I assume it is fine. I should RTFM when I can be bothered Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Just looked in the window of mine with it locked and it flashes about once every 2/3 seconds, unlocked it and the flash rate was the same. Locked it and the flash rate was 2 quick flashes every second then after 10-15 seconds once armed it went back to once every 2/3 seconds.

If the alarm/immobiliser light is flashing rapidly I would suspect that since you last locked and armed it the alarm has been triggered.

I've been having a similar issue, rapid flashing of the immobiliser light without alarm actuations, as well as random alarm actuations at all hours and no rapid flashing of the immobiliser light. Turned out the be a faulty drivers door lock.
