Noticed a slight resistance to the steering occasionally when turning at low speed - eg into a drive or parking space etc.

There is a slight resistance and then it suddenly gives - almost with a clunk, although I'm not sure there's actually any sound!

Can any one tell me what's likely to be the problem and what the cure / £ damage is likely to be?!
