Just swopped my 59 TD4e GS for a SD4 HSE with a towbar. Unable to use as tow vehicle as dealer unable to download configuration. Had it a week and now it is back at dealers and I am driving a loaner, there dosen`t seem to be a solution yet. Anyone else seen this? Sorry but just had to get it off my chest as I am now getting depressed.

Unfortunately with the latest FR2 the towing module is not standard as with the older versions, but comes with the electrics towing kits therefore the ECU has to be told its there. Until the ECU recognises the fact it now has the towing module nothing works. i.e lights, fridge etc. This is what dealer tells me. On the older FR2 you are quite correct it only disables the reversing sensors, ECO button and puts on the trailer light.

theres plenty of SD4 owners on here that tow, and i don't think any of those are having this problem, so it maybe that your dealer is trying to do it incorrectly or with the wrong parts Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

my 2011 freelander has an independant tow bar on with an interface connected had no problems l/rover was to dear for them to supply and fit as stated it does not switch off the rear sensors when connected but the button on the dash does that anyway when i push it do you think the dealer may have damaged somthing and is putting you off till they have fixed it rainy-city

I paid extra for an ECU module via an independant tow bar fitter. It doesn't give me the features it was supposed to (stop the reversing sensors, adjust motor, light on dash etc) and I'm guessing it's because they didn't have the Land Rover interface to update the software to the SD4. It barely bothers me to tell the truth - I still tow all manner of things and all work well other than the annoying beeping when reversing. I was hoping to get the software updated at the first service. |

All is now hunky dory, the problem it appears was that there little computer had a glitch which needed a patch from LR to rectify. I suspect someone at LR decided to "improve" the software and corrupted something else.
