4x4 spotted on Snowdon Summit !!!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-14779014

First attempt was 1904, last legal attempt was with a Landrover in 1951 ! after that no motorised vehicles allowed ! so the Vauxhall Frontera did well.
At least unlike mine it completed a journey !

Couldnt agree more ! Thumbs Up
to break it up would cause some enviromental damage through lost fluids etc etc, winch by helicopter will cause huge emmissions ! to load on a train will take massive effort and jsut cause further stress to the track carrying extra couple of tons of weight.
OMG we do have some idiotic beuarcrats Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
just drive the f Censored g back down !

Man, if you read the article it sounds like a lynchparty. 20 year ago people would laugh about this sort of thing. Now they are upset. I don't quite get it, it's funny and I doubt it has any maliscious intent. A boyish stupid irresponsible jack-ass type of thing. He did not jeoperdize anybody but himself at best. If you read the article it sound more like he killed someone. Ok maybe an ant or two but let the guy just drive it down again, slap him on the arse and get on with life.

He should be made to pay for all expenses, he's a f Censored g idiot. Every inch of that funicular railway will have to be inspected for damage, if as the article stated he used the line for extra grip. Also the many thousands spent annually on footpath repair could well be wasted as a Frontera ain't the best at intelligent 4WD.

Airlift it down and send him the bill.

not the best thing to do with car, all the time it took to get up there and then just leave it, waste of time Evil or Very Mad

Just think driving down there without the use of the burned out brakes bouncing around like a downhill mountain biker wind blowing in through the open window when you take off on a tight right hander only to land on the roof 300ft below

I don't agree with the fact he did it, but i bet he had fun in doing so, the thrill of been caught, doing something naughty, but with everything like this he will be made to pay his £200 fine and the tax payer will be hit for the most expensive option to bring it down

Of course it could be a publicity stunt for vauxhall Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I reckon he bottled it, it always looks better going up than coming down especially when you are looking at where you started 1000m below. Shocked

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

He will be responsible for the cost of recovering the car. A lot more than a £200 fine!
Agree with the comment about easier to get up than down, reminds me of my rock climbing youth......
Costs a fortune and a lot of volunteer hours to maintain mountain paths on high no. visitor places like Snowdon so whilst the idea is fun the guy has to take the consequences. Not 'bureaucracy' as some posters here have said. JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

in my opinion not any worse than the idiots who wander the Scottish hills and need the mountain rescue to recover them after tripping over a pebble and spraining their ankle !!

or perhaps getting a wee bit lost in the mist, and finding for some reason the iphone doesn't work.

rescued at no cost to them at all, and it happens on a regular basis.

Just goes to show that if a Vauxhall can get almost the top of your highest mountain then nobody in the UK really needs a Freely. Laughing 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
