Indeed, car washes aren't what they used to be and for the last 10 years I've not cleaned a car myself.
My previous car was a convertible and that too I put through the car wash. Never any issues and my brother in-law bought it and it still looks mint. It's now 11 years old and the paintwork still looks sparkling.

Same with the FL2, I have the car for 2.5 years and it went through the car wash about 15 times already. Still looks sparkling.

In old days they only had these rollers all in the same direction and did not use water properly so it had sand in it after a while. Todays cleaning products are a lot better too.

I don't think I can get it as clean as my local carwash can.

I've only hosed the car down after some off-roading to get the mud off so it won't dry up. Becouse then the car wash will not only charge extra but I doubt they get it clean anyway.

As soon as you get the car apply Supagard. Don't pay the dealer though. You can buy it on Ebay for a small fraction of the price the dealer will charge. Once it is applied, regular waxing with Autoglym HD will keep your car sparkling!

Agreed supagard can work well and when applied properly and can provide a strong barrier against the elements. I managed to get a kit from fleabay for around 25 quid a few yrs back when I did it.

A word of warning though, when applying preperation is 90% of the finish. You need to make sure the paint is properly clean and swirl free before hand else you are just locking in the defects. The reason it costs a lot from the dealer is that done properly it should take around a day for the prep and application.. in reality though they just use YTS to slap it on and rub it off with their snotty grit rag! a lot of tlc mine has a coat on it by the dealer says i never have to use wax on it but i use a good quality car wax my car is lago grey gets washed once a week by hand and every three months a coat of wax spray under wheel arches with sd60 protector shines like is copme straight fro the paint shop

never put car through automatic car wash will scrathc paint rainy-city
