Isn't it a requirement even with correctly marked snow tyres on to carry a set of chains when in the alps etc?

Might be worth having a look at the Roof Box Company. Their website lists a number of options for snow traction systems to fit a Freelander 2. This link gives options for 235/65/17 tyres.

In principle you are quite right Mr Pinks. However, a) we never carry snow chains in these alps - never needed them as her Ladyship's FL2 and its drivers have mastered all that's been thrown at it. b) you can pick up a set of chains for 20% the price of the LR Snow Traction System and if driven correctly over snow n ice with full winter tyres on your snow chains will probably never see the outside of your spare tyre well. |

I believe that the 342+VAT must be multiplied by 2 as in the description of the item clearly states:

And beware the fact that with the original 18 inches rims, because the distance between the tire and the shock absorber housing on the rear wheels is very small, a snow chain that envelop the tire entirely could rub the shock absorber housing.

you would think, howvever LR state only to fit to the front wheels. 342+ Luxury Tax is a very good price for new, just more than I want to spend. thanks anyway. ![]() |
