2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

Well, I got my 4th service done at Stratstone Newcastle on tuesday, they priced matched after all, £267.00, and had a courtesy Freelander SD4 for 24 hours while they had mine in. Lots of pros and cons for the new one, love the new engine, and face lifted look, it was also in white, and had some very favourable comments made about it. Will have to think long and hard before I make the plunge though!

Due my 4th service and wondering if anyone here has any experience of dealers prices in and around the Midlands (South Birmingham Area / Solihull)?

Looking through the post there seams to be a massive difference between the numbers quoted... I've not spoken to anyone yet but I dont want to spend much more than 300 inc. VAT. Do you think this is possible?

Also does anyone know of any decent indy's in the area? Despite Landrover being from Solihull I've not come across many / if any - but then again I may just not be looking hard enough! Depends which service it is CW, my local LR dealer Farnells is £279 for an A service and £379 for a B service (both including vat).

Well, just got back from my 4th Service..... 379 all inclusive including MOT, wash, vac, tyre dressing and air freshner Very Happy

Well chuffed with that, had a loaner for the day which cost nothing, the experience was spot on and I could'nt fault a single thing. They even did a health check on the car and checked all fluids, brakes, and tyres for anything that might need doing.

So Thumbs Up to Stratstone Solihull - I might just come back again Very Happy Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

4th service just carried out by Guy Salmon in Bristol. They picked up the car from home and delivered it back washed, vacuumed out and tyres dressed. They've changed all the filters according to the invoice and the MOT came included all for £240.
Interestingly, they changed the led's I had fitted in the sidelights for the MOT as they said that they were too blue. They left the led's in the centre storage bin in the car so it was a 10 minute job to put them back in.

I had a look at the air filter and the oil. The air filter is new and the oil is certainly cleaner than when I checked it last week. The oil filter housing is cleaner than the rest of the engine bay so it looks as if it's been changed. If someone can tell me where the fuel filter is I'll have a look to see if there are signs that it's been worked on. They certainly did'nt swap the wheels on the axles as I was already looking to change the front n/s due to excess outer edge wear. Had wheel alignment etc checked and adjusted last week. The inner edge of that tyre had plenty of tread left. (That'll teach me to use the depth gauge more often.)
Whatever, it's better than the MOT/service that was done as part of the dpi when I bought it last year. Both wipers were so worn that the edge of the blades ware coming away from the body of the wipers. They changed them when I complained but that was another trip to the stealer. That dealer (NOT Guy Salmon but close if you know the area) wanted £412 Rolling Eyes for service and MOT.

Lancaster Reading quoted me £500 for the 60k service and even an independent was coming in at well over £300. Up till now I've kept with the dealer for the sake of the warranty and the value of the service history but since we're now out of warranty and not planning to sell for a long time yet I decided that at these prices it was time to go DIY (as I used to do with our Discoveries). Plus, there's something very satisfying about fitting your own brand new filters and pouring in the new, fully synthetic oil (the dealer always used semi-synthetic). OK, I've not valeted the interior but for a saving of some £350, net of parts costs, I can live with that!

Just been quoted £499 from Hunters Southampton for a 4 year service. From the previous posts there seems to be some vast variations in the price dealers are charging for servicing. I take it Land Rover do not have a recommended pricing structure for servicing. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges
