Checking out a Freelander2 | |
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, live up in the North East, and looking for a Freelander2.
I was hoping you guys could enlighten me on the important stuff to look at when viewing a FL2, browsing the posts it looks like IRD and Haldex units are a major cause for concern...
I've had a look at a few for sale, all automatics, one of the worst knocked about ones also made a knocking noise from under the drivers seat area when pulling away and turning slowly on full lock. Could this be a sign of the IRD failing? This particular one had a well used towbar fitted, so probably had a hard life?
How best to field check a Haldex unit is still operational without resorting to finding a nearby field and wheelspinning about on it,,, jack one rear wheel up off the ground with the engine ticking over in neutral and try to spin it by hand???
