Promised pics...

This one shows the location of my cradle in the cubby...

This one is a close up of the mounting (need to get my duster out!), you can see that I am using a mounting disc on the top of the cubby to stick it to. No windscreen marks on this car Wink

I would have to agree that the landrover sat nav is better but for one flaw...... Its bloody useless at getting you to your destination. That is unless you want to spend more time driving and use lots of lovely fuel!!!!

I find the nice smooth surface is good for sticking the tom tom on.

Be serious you didn't buy a land Rover because of it's fuel economy Surprised

It is a lovely car to drive - so why not take the more scenic route?

Seriously I do like the inbuilt Satnav. I Spent a fortune on the early satnav from TomTom (>£1k), Sony (>£500), Mitchelin based one (>£350), non was a patch on the unit currently fitted. Not saying that the new offerings are as bad as the older units, just will not waste any more money/time finding out. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Why would the Mrs need to use Satnav? - the only time she should be allowed to drive the FL is back from the pub.

Age - what do you mean, if I reach 105 I'm still middle aged

Not going the reach 53 with comments like that if Gill finds out Shocked Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Its o.k.taking the scenic route if you have all day to drive round but these are the things mine does:

Takes you off the main roads to let you get stuck in a village just to join the same main road a mile further down.

Takes you off main roads so you can stand still in city centres.

Gives you three route options, all of which are longer and take more time than the most obvious, and again avoids main roads.

If you select one of the routes it doesn't stick to it anyway. I've checked the step by step and then its added a few extra turns and miles.

If you use the avoid road option it only brings up an even worse route.

If you put in waypoints it still gets you to them by the most stupid route as it detours to them instead of plotting a complete new route.

50% of the time its late giving instructions. Sometimes i'm even two junctions further down the road before it instructs to turn. This would be o.k. if the map was any good but the side roads are too small and often unnamed. This makes it near impossible to count the roads off to your next turn.

I'm sorry but the last time I used it I was only going to Wales. I checked the step by step which was fine but then it decided to take me through LIchfield city centre, Walsaw and brownhills. We didnt touch the A5 M54 or M6 and eventually I had to turn for home as it was only a day trip and it ended up not worth going.

It added 1hr and 40 mins to the journey time.

And why is there so many key presses before it starts the navigation?

Thats why i'm going back to my Tom Tom. My old one is 4 years older but atleast it knows the A50 is there!
