maybe a 4x4 will out perform a ed4 in bad conditions but 90% of owners will never find out and can benefit from the lower tax/better economy. I see nothing wrong with a 4x2 fl2 , I however as a farmer/rural dweller am in the 10% so will buy a 4x4 At work

just to confuse the issue a little more, i wonder why they didnt stick a dial in the FL2 to allow both 2WD and 4WD options like some manufacturers do - you then get the best of both worlds..

I will try to clarify back the issue... Laughing
Just pull out the FB6 fuse from the luggage compartment box and you'll have a pure 2WD vehicle.
Of course, a small amount of energy will be lost in the transfer box and the front-to-rear driveshaft, but it'll will be a 2WD car alright.
And of course, if you can live with the error displayed... Laughing

Filled the Ed4 up and it averaged over 400 miles 48.7 mpg and on refill had 717 miles on the range. Not bad at all.

Wow, are you serious?! Much as I like my TD4, the only fly in my Freelander ointment is the fuel consumption, I certainly can't get anywhere near those figures. I would definitely consider an eD4 if it makes that much difference! Shocked

hi Tigger
posted some pics on the gallery of the eD4 instrument cluster showing MPG and range etc! takes some believing but 400 miles cost me £50 !
To be honest it drove brilliant, definately quicker due to being lighter ! very swift over taking !
serious contender.
I have never been able to use mine in the snow as it would never start below zero degrees and the only time I did use it in the snow the wipers bent and L/R refused warranty so a 4x4 that didn't start and couldn't be used in the snow because if it went wrong snow is considered an "act of god " confirmed by L/R customer services !
2WD could be a good option. Thumbs Up
