Removing Rear Door Lock

Has anyone ever had to replace a FL2 rear door lock. My lock is faulty and "tries" to lock the door when you operate the remote but the rocker button only makes it half way. I thought I'd see if I could get the lock off andif possible try to get it working again or replace it. I took the cover off the inside door, handles off, etc but after this was stumped at how you got access to the lock.

Unlike cars which ive worked on before there appears to be no access to the inner part of the door where the central locking and electric window mechanisms are. Only possible way in I could see was to remove the speaker but this is still diagonally opposite to where I want to be. In the end I put it all back together and went and had a cup of tea!!

Does anyone have any ideas?? Help??

But the window motor and regulator assembly is hold in place by 4 bolts/nuts.
Remove the window motor assembly and you'll gain a pretty good access zone to the lock...
Remember that you can do this only after you'll release the window glass from the window mechanism.

mmm....I'm sort of coming around to "maffs" way of thinking..."This is sounding like a complicated job" Rolling Eyes nothing new, there then!!

I can see this thread becoming longer...and longer.

How do you release the glass from the motor assembly.. I assume you unbolt the mechanism and then drop it down sufficiently to be able to gain access to the glass. Is it easy enough to release the glass? I then assume you prop the glass so it stays up and lower the mechnism into the bottom of the door?

Any advice other than "take it to the dealer" Smile would be appreciated. Alex - thanks for the help to date!!

Johnny
Please let us know what you find as my back door locking mechanism does the same thing.
I really don't want to have to purchase a whole locking mechanism.
Cheers
Ade
