Has anyone recently purchased a new freelander (factory order) and if so what was the lead-time from order to delivery. Likewise if you have a new factory special on order when was it ordered and what is your estimated delivery date. Reason for asking is that I ordered a new vehicle 14 weeks ago and still have not received a delivery date. Don't know if it is legitimate or I am being messed around. Current inclination is to cancel and buy a demo or nearly new vehicle. Any thoughts on what is a reasonable period of wait for a new Freelander! Thanks...

When I ordered mine almost 3 years ago they new within the week when it would be build and in the end I got it before the planned delivery date.

They order by computer and they should be able to see it on the order.

In fact, I ordered mine and a week later I added xenons which wasn't a problem.

Reading your message I have a feeling they forgot to order it or there's an issue (available paint insure, dealer having issues with LR...). I don't know.

I did ask a presumed delivery date before signing tough...

Ordered mine in late June 2010 and it was delivered to me on 30 November 2010. Part of the delay was that I wanted an MY11 and it was a special order, rest of the delay was due to the fact that so many people ordered MY11 vehicles that the factory couldn't keep up with demand.

Not sure there are that many demo or nearly new ones around at the moment.

Ordered mine 15 Feb 2011 delivered 25 May 2011. Don't know if Japanese Tsunami has impacted delivery dates

What the lead time is depends on your dealer, each dealer is allocated x amount, so it depends really on how many they have sold, your dealer may be selling a few so his monthly allocation may be used up for the next few of months where as a dealer who is not do so well will still have his allocation unsold.

Ordered mine mid April for delivery in August, it is due on the 16th this month, dealer says it should be here, possibly a little earlier, I was a little concerned that they didn't have a chassis number though at this stage, although finance is sorted and number plate sorted, so I figure all is going well.

I was told last week that the factory will stop Freelander production completely in September and build nothing but Evoque to get them out, currently the line is running 4 Evoque to 1 Freelander.

Mine was ordered 23/2/11 and delivered to the dealer 12/5/11.

It was estimated to be about 12 weeks and it took just over 11.

I guess you won't want to hear this but ordered 9 June 2011 and delivered 23 July so super speedy. However, I was really lucky as the dealer had a vacant build slot already in place presumably following a cancellation. Loving driving it and so the wait is worth it but I do feel for you.

Mine was ordered on the 18th June with an estimated delivery of 30th September.

I had a reply from the dealer on the 21st of July after I enquired how the build was progressing and he said the delivery date for my car has moved forward a little and was expected to be with them the week commencing 19th Sept.

Mine took about 12 weeks but wouldnt be surprised if they are taking longer, Im sure I have read somewhere that the VW Golf has a 6 month waiting list!

Dont upset your dealer otherwise they might allocate you a Friday build slot

And if you asked for a towbar to be fitted you will be put to the back of the production line repeatably until you cancel it

My colleague has just had an update on his Golf (I think I prompted into action).

He now has a delivery date of Oct 9th.... but he's had delivery dates before! Not bad for something ordered in November (last year) Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!
