Not too bad in the grand scheme I guess. At least LR have decided to assist. Not all manufacturers would have been so forthcoming. Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass |

50% still quite a lot to fork out though for a design fault of LR. I had a similar problem and solved it by replacing the reservoir which had a clogged filter and purging and replacing the PAS fluid. Works and sounds perfect for the last 2000 miles. May be worth trying first to keep costs down. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

after doing some more research, it seems as if this is known problem on early models, from 2006 to 2007. Apparently the reservoir gets clogged because of dirt and causes poor lubrication to the pump, hence the whine or whoo noise. Does anyone know where I can ger hold of a TB or service recall on the reservoir or pump? |

Just had this problem develop on my 07 FL2 and I also thought it might be turbo related as it sounded a bit like the turbo waste gate woosh of the old Siera cosworths when accelerating and after changing gear, never thought it could be steering related though.

Sammy, best way to test is to stop car,put in neutral, rev and turn steering simultaneously...noise should get louder.

Brucehun, mine has all the symptoms as yours but tried your test and i don't get the noise that I get when accelerating & changing gear no bubbling in the reservoir either. Booked into the dealers on friday so hopefully caught it early enough to get away with just the possible reservoir change. |

Well It's bad news for me it is the turbo that's failed according to the dealer, over boosting causing the relief valve to blow hence the whistle/whoosh.
