Would it not be cheaper to source the FL2 lead separately and buy it from Hids4U? That way your buying the majority of it in the UK and would be easier on warranty claims Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

That makes sense and is something i would probably do if I was in that situation. The one thing to look for is that all products match. As there is several different models of the GVIF.
I am sure a little email back and forth would do the trick Wink Cuatro Por Cuatro

Does anyone have detailed installation instructions for the GVIF? The best I can find are generic wiring diagrams. IE: https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...cation.pdf

4por4, did you have to remove your nav LCD screen to access all the required wires or was everything located below the seat? I took a look below my right-side seat and found the Nav DVD player, though it didn't seem like all the required inputs/outputs were there. Maybe I'm missing something... Installed a hitch, stock roof rack, mantec skid plates, General Grabbers AT2 255/60/R18, and a rear access ladder. Also made a hitch-mount for the winch. Looking to install a front hitch, rooft-top basket, and lift kit.

SRO

I used the same guide as you did.

I didn't have to remove the LCD screen for anything. All wiring is under the passenger side seat (LHD LR2).
The way I did it was like this:

* GVIF wire from GVIF unit has two ends, IN went to Nav DVD unit and OUT went to the wire removed from the Nav Unit going to LCD screen.

* Ground wire to a good ground.
* 12 volt turn on wire to a switched fuse location under the glove box.
* Backup camera trigger wire tap into the reverse light wire at the light housing. (Green with white stripe wire IIRC)

The only issue I ran into was that I didn't get a video image on the LCD screen due to not sitting the GVIF wire deep enough into the DVD Nav unit.

It has worked perfect ever since i installed it. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Ah, the problem here was that I just ordered the GVIF unit from GSMserver.com: http://gsmserver.com/shop/car/gvif_interfa...finiti.php

I also need to order the land rover cable: http://gsmserver.com/shop/car/gvif_land_rover_cable.php

D'oh! Installed a hitch, stock roof rack, mantec skid plates, General Grabbers AT2 255/60/R18, and a rear access ladder. Also made a hitch-mount for the winch. Looking to install a front hitch, rooft-top basket, and lift kit.

What camera did you use and where is it installed at the rear? Thumbs Up

I purchased the camera from a different seller since it was much cheaper. But it can all be bought from the same place as the GVIF.

This is how the camera looks like:

I was wondering how much did the camera cost you and where did you buy it from. LR2 HSE

I got the same box installed! Only minus is that the rearview camera wont automatically start if you haven't selected the navigation from the startupscreen. FL2, TD4 HSE

redlabel,

You are correct. Mine is the same way.
I wished I would have know that the camera I purchased had the "parking aid lines" built in to the camera. I like using my camera just to look back when I going forward and I find the lines distracting.

One thing I am int he process of doing is adding a camera to the inside of the vehicle facing my newborn baby's car seat. That way i can watch her not he screen instead of having to turn around. One with a night vision would be great.

I'll post pictures once I am done. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Hello

Thank you for the info ... Bow down

I was wondering how useful will be to me the OEM NAV System since the "morocccan" maps are not ready yet.

At least we can see some videos.

Do you confirm that we only need the module http://gsmserver.com/shop/car/gvif_interfa...finiti.php + the land rover cable: http://gsmserver.com/shop/car/gvif_land_rover_cable.php and then I can have the useless (for now) screen useful ? Mr. Green

Thx Thumbs Up

Hello all,

I am a Fin who has bought a 2010 LR2 in Houston (to take back with me). This is not my first Land rover either... Wink

Anyway I love the car and have been upgrading it somewhat to my liking... I guess you can say fine tuning... Wink

One thing I would like is the rear view camera... And I actually have looked at these on ebay. They do not mention anything on needing a GVIF... so do I need one... what does it do? And sorry for my stupidity here... I am good with mechanical stuff but terrible with anything electrical Very Happy

P.S. Great forum!!! Thumbs Up

Best regards, -Q-

chrisdeeming,

I purchased mine from the link posted below. The guy is very helpful and I am sure he will ship it anywhere in the world.
So far, he is the only one I know that has the correct video wire for the freelancer 2 / LR2

Send him an email.
