destruction

A big 4x4 vehicle towing something or other reversed into our villages water pump monument last night, and pretty much destroyed it. I suspect it was a caravan Evil or Very Mad

It was a round stone building roof held up on 6 stone pillars, now its sort of wobbly, held up on 4 pillars surrounded by police tape Confused

early reports of a tractor and trailer being involved remain un-proven At work

this is the pump ( fountain) before it was damaged, the tractor driver hit it infront of many witnesses then attempted unsuccessfully to out run the police and escape Rolling Eyes

The inscription reads '1837 VR 1897. To commemorate 60 years of the reign of Queen Victoria. This artesian well and building were given to the inhabitants of Helperby by James Coates. 30th June 1897. God Save the Queen'. At work

I googled the pump to see if I could find out what the piece on top is. My hometown clock has a snuff box on top, we are called "snuffy arroders".

I came across this article, so i think I might have to visit and take a bl**dy good look for myself Laughing
