The Saga is just beginning....

Well, its taken a while getting here. It all started a few months ago when, having gleaned as much information as I could from the users on this forum.

I found a nice vehicle on the internet, took it for a test drive. There was a noise coming from the rear diff. I was assured this was the bearing and would be replaced. Replaced it was but did not cure the noise. So out when the old rear diff and in went a new one. Still the whine persisted. Apparently much head scratching ensued at the dealership along with some choice language. Then someone suggested the tyres could be out of sync inducing the whine. Off came the old and on went some new and hey presto, no whine! Except from the dealer and some more choicer language Smile .

Up shot of it is, I am now the 'proud' owner of a 57 plate SE FL2 with half leather interior and a few extra toys (sat nav, Bluetooth etc) as well as some uprated tyres as the dealer had to put on 18'' alloys instead of the old 17'' to stop the whine (it was all the part dept had in stock) along with 4 brand new pirrelis to go on them Very Happy.

So as the saga of buying the damn thing ends the whole new saga of ownership begins. But hopefully it will be a fun saga. Would like to say thank you to all who have given me advice and pointers. Pics will be attached when I get a chance to take some but meantime thank you once again. Thumbs Up

Well Ive had the car for about a month and I thought it was time to share an update.

All going okish so far. The battery died for reasons unknown (poss faulty cell). LR assist were very helpful and came straight out and got me going and there was actually a great deal of dealer co-operation in getting it replaced.

The only other thing is that one of the doors isnt responding to the central locking. It unlocks fine but doesnt lock. Need to get it booked in and have a look at it but hopefully nothing major and can be replaced under warranty.

Other than that all looking good and going ok so far. Fingers crossed Thumbs Up

Sounds great! What warranty do you have?

I brought approved used so its the Land Rover warranty. I would rather pay the little bit extra and have a warranty that is actually worth something.

Thanks. How long does the approved warranty last for? Can you then pay to extend it again?

It lasts for a year. I dont know if you can have it extended or not but it is good to have. Esp as it is a LR warranty not a dealer one so I can go to any dealer and have things fixed.
