Doh! Sorry to hear it. Hope it scrubs up good and you manage to forget it ever even happened.

Theres a felt pen you can get now supposed to cover up scratches effectively, would be a good test on this. Surprised

It would definately be top of my list if I drove in a demolition derby.

It won't drive again though - not worth repairing!!

I'll let you kow if I see it - will give it plenty of room!!

So far :
Ambulance chasers been in touch - details given to cover hidden costs
Insurers briefed and following up claim - their approved repairer is LR approved as well (hurrah) supplying dealer group company.
Assessor from garage will collect car once temp replacement on its way.
Enterprise car hire due to pick me up to put me in another car for duration at other drivers costs.. just been told - another FL2!

could it be written off because they can't get any more Rimini Red paint??

Forgot to mention but the eagle eyed amongst may have notived - i don't have any luck with Red land rovers - my first a FL1 was drowned in floods.

Maybe next time a different colour............ thats less conspicuos

Why are people worried about paint? You will still be able to get it. The only reason LR dropped it is because of the supplier issues, and suppliers can't be changed over night.

EVERY bodyshop can mix Rimini red paint. There are loads of paint manufacturers. They don't order a can of a certain colour, they have paint recipes on bodyshop computers and all paints are mixed on site for the car they are working on.

But it could be written off due to the damage. My local LR dealer had an FL2 in with less dmage than yours and iot was written off.

Hope you get it sorted though. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Having fun and games with insurers - not my claim but the hire car.

Last week (Friday) they agreed that I could take it on my hols to France as mne won't be ready - they gave me lots of advice and I went ahead and paid the premium on my insurance for international green card upgrade to match my current level of cover. I even got a copy of the email they confirmed with both the hire car co and the specialist underwriter.

10:00 am this morning - call from insurers - sorry they were wrong and I can't take the hire car due to some strange thing with insuring hire cars. Can I make my own arrangements? What do you think?

Many calls later and they offer me £50 per day to sort out my own hire - bearing in mind the freelie I'm in rents out at £98 per day this isn't going to buy me much. The downside was that I need to arrange the hire my self.
Thanks but no thanks - not got time or inclination to sort out. They are continuing to progress and I'm due another call on Thursday am to update.

I wouldn't be so bothered in principle if I had know this last week but to drop the bomb with 48 hrs notice takes the biscuit.

Not started shouting yet but I'm not far off........ Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry There's always a way forward!

Well. I'm back from my holidays and have picked up my repaired Freelie following its mauling.

On first impressions it looks good - drives in straight line with no pull to any side. The paint match looks pretty consistent with the rest of the car as well.

A couple of niggles -
Electric one touch windows seem to have stopped working on all but one window - seen the posts so as soon as it stops raining I'll be out to try to reset.
They put on one of the old bronze quarter badges instead of the new silver - replacement on its way.
Seat belt hieght adjuster only moves about 2" so thsi will need to be sorted
Door hinge where it meets the body must have been put on whilst paint was still a little soft. A bit of a pull where they have adjusted the door - should be easy to touch up.

Other than these fairly minor things I'm happy with the result (But would be happier if it hadn't happened in the first place Mad )

Can anyone tell me what the black sticker is for on the inside of the front pasenger door? They have replaced the other one of the B pillar but not this.

Trip to the lake district to collect No 1 son on sunday should give it a run out - see how it goes.

Then sort out insurance repayment of my excesses etc.

DR Very Happy

PS had a Peugeot 508 estate while we were away - excellent car!! Don't think i would have been able to get as much in the freelie...... There's always a way forward!

Hi Tony

Not sure yet about the door handles - don't want to blind anyone they might not see my large Red target.

It is the long sticker on thr inside of the front passenger door that I'm not sure about - long list of numbers from memory.

Just got to get it back in for one thing - front passenger seat belt not quite right - slow to come out even slower to go back in. Slight grating sound when it does. As they removed all this side it sounds like they didn't put something back right.

Gave it a run up to the Lake District on sunday - no problems at all and a very pleasant 43.5 mpg. Everything seems to run smoothly. Fingers crossed!!

Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!
