I found this info today and I am thinking of joining. I think I will buy some Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme tyres if I do though. They provide training apparently.

Down south we have the SE4X4 who do a lot for the emergency services. In the weeks of the snow they were called on a lot to get medical staff into hospitals, help stranded ambulances, collect people who needed vital regular hospital treatment and one of the team was stationed at a blood bank in London to get supplies out when their existing vehicles could not get out.

I joined the Yorks & Lincs 4x4 response network last winter, wish I never bothered as they are a joke.

I think i also read that they need to CRB check you and you need to have valid insurance coving what your doing, lots of expense for a voluntary thing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

Yes, NFU cover you for response work so no extra cost incurred. I did not need a CRB check but did have to agree to comply with various child protection policies which prohibit carrying under 18's without the presence of another adult. |

Hmm, I suppose if we reach a critical mass of bumbling idiots all in the same place, the universe might implode!
