i wouldn't worry about the paint, they won't go buy a tin of red, they'll mix the colour themselves

i would be more worried about the crumpled metal and whether that can be repaired, i believe that there is a new supplier in the pipe line also Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

DR, if they cannot get the Rimini paint you could always have it Chrome wrapped Whistle

If there are no more Rimini's, Lago's, Stornoway's etc because of paint supply problems, yet any sprayshop can get the paint because they mix their own, why don't LR do the same or am I missing something here. Question

It may be a right off, as the pillar looks quite dented!

Hope you feel better,

Still got a tube of LR Rimini Red Touch Up paint I could lend you.'Very Happy'
If the Freelander has to be replaced through insurance try going "Green". I replaced my red LR2 with another green LR2 last year.

I'm guessing the chassis could be slightly twisted looking at where it's been hit.

Feel for you fella, not nice when your pride and joy gets dented. ______________________

Condolences, from one Rimini Red to another......Please give us a running commentary on how it goes from here. Not wishing to cause any more pain but did you have Gap Insurance? Interested because I never would.......JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

Drowned Rat - Make sure you insist on LR Approved body shop repair (list somewhere on the LR website). Or phone the LR accident repair line and they will sort for you. Used an LR approved repairer for my recent prang and the repair quality was excellent, you would never know what they did. Mojo.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Thanks for allyour best wishes guys.

It is worse in the flesh than the photos - difficult to see the revised contours due to lots of missing paint. There are creases in the sill behind the doors - there doesn't seem to be any bulges in the floor but who knows. There was one set of scratches on rear wheel but might polish out at a push.

The only reason there isn't any thing behind the rear doors is I was too far of the ground at that point!!

Its gone in for assessing today - Local Co-op Body repair centre - part of Sunwin motor group who own Farnells so all LR approved thank fully. I don't think I will be looking for any other quotes.

As for Gap - the LR product was too expensive, looked at others and they all seemed to have some drawback. Xmas came and I got distratcted and forgot about if aftrewards so well have to see. I haven't checked small print in insurance but i seem to remember that they replace your car if less than 12 months old. Hopefully this will be the case if the worst happens.

Anyone got any experience of trading in a car that has had a lot of damage repaired - will this affect residuals?

Toeknee - give my regards to Colin when you see him. Hope he is well - must be finishing his duties soon? Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!

Things moving at a pace now.

Estimate for work sent to insurers £5443 depending on what they find when they start to strip it down.
Expect go ahead from insurers by close on Tuesday.
10-12 days work

I am supposed to be driving to France on 22nd - you do the maths - its tight!

Raised it with my insurers - don't worry they said. We'll sort it.

Currently in a 59 plate HSE thats had a hard life (26k miles) driving through the jungle by the look of the panels. Took the hire co girl 20 minutes to note all the dents/dings/scratches. She'll be hard pressed to spot any I put in.

Can't work out how you Auto guys cope with the mpg - 22.4 as opposed to my 35. You must all have too much money! There's always a way forward!
