LR Experience - Dunkeld

Well I finally managed to go on my half day at Dunkeld, it had to be postponed last December as the weather was too bad.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I had a really great time. I have read about the abilities of the Freelander but have never fancied taking mine off road, much preferring to have polish rather than mud on it! I feel that if ever I was in the situation where I had to go off road for any reason I would be a lot more confident doing so. It's really amazing just how capable it is. Andyfr

Yes they are. There was only one other person on the Experience and he was in a D4. I guided him over the rocks and he did the same for me while the tutors kept a watchful eye on us. Very surprised the Freelander didn't hit any, although I didn't go over the really big ones. Andyfr

Had my day at Dunkeld mid January 2010, snow, ice, ruts, you name it the FL2 conquered it. Would never have attempted anything like this without instruction but have put to good use a few times since.
Check my gallery for photos. All FL2's (3) Gone

Booked mine for the end of June driving a RRS, would normally have gone to Skipton but have been their several times, so thought I would book the one in Scotland. Should have looked at the web first as it’s a bit of a drive and have now agreed with Mrs toeknee to make a long weekend of it. So any recommendations of things to see & visit would be appreciated also any recommendations for places to stay

Cheers
Tony

Hilton Dunkeld is within the same estate as LRE, you pass entrance to LRE on driveway to hotel. We got a very good price DB+B for 2 nights but it was only 3 weeks after Xmas. Premier Inn Dunkeld Road Perth has rooms looking on to Stratstone Perth Land Rover forecourt. A good Brewers Fayre style resturant next door. 2 Travel Lodges in Perth at A9 roundabout. All FL2's (3) Gone

Take your other half to House of Bruar, just along the road from Dunkeld. Best leave your credit card behind though Very Happy

I stayed at the Hilton after doing LRE Dunkeld.

It was pretty good and fairly reasonable prices. Thumbs Up

Well just got back from our long weekend up at Dunkeld in Scotland, spent Saturday in a RRS ( Still want a D4 though Big Cry ) driving around the LR Experience Centre, what a place to drive off road with all that scenery and our instructor Ally made the whole experience worthwhile Thumbs Up , letting us drive through the lake the wrong way and even got out and let me drive it across the rocks, while he was giving directions( I did think to shout Mrs Toeknee to get in and then do a runner, but Ally was too nice a bloke to do that to) Have also added some photos of the Blair Atoll Water Mill, dare I say but their Scones deserve top marks Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up , made with flour ground on the premises.
Also photos to show the lovely weather yesterday Twisted Evil , while most other parts of the UK were experiencing a heat wave we had Rain all bloody day!. So we went off to the House of Bruar (thanks Bottom, all spare expenditure has now gone thanks to Mrs Toeknee) but well worth a visit, just to see all the Land Rovers from Defenders through to FL2’s right up to FFRR.( They even had Caravans parked up for the weekend ) People say there’s no money about, try telling that to the people I saw yesterday, one woman spent nearly a thousand pound on a couple of shooting jackets and a few bits and bob’s. Also don’t know why but the part of Scotland I was in must have had nearly all the Aston Martin’s and Ferrari’s every made, everywhere I went one was either parked up or drove by us.

I had my half day on Wednesday in RRS, a fantastic car and the 3.0 TDV6 a great engine very powerful compared to the 2.7 TDV6 in my old D3. Although it's a bigger car, I thought it didn,t have much more leg room in the back than the FL2. Great day, great car and great instructors. Thumbs Up 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
