In reply to Dave - passenger seat belt OK but gets far less use than the drivers belt.

The belt slides in and out OK and apears to work OK, but I agree, that it is a worry about the integrity of the belt if put under severe emergency use.

I will report back when I have seen the dealer with it.

Make sure they investigate the cause to make sure it doesn't happen again, and not just replace it and send you on your way without and explanation. ______________________

My FL2 is 4 years young and is fitted with the old style pillar plastic thingy. It was a lovely groove in it from the safety belt - although after very careful inspection the belt is in A+ condition.

I've just had the drivers B pillar trim replaced under warranty as it was wearing the plastic in the usual place. My drivers side is now as EYorkshire's photo, but the passenger side is still the older style. Not sure if they changed the seatbelt at the same time, I think they have as it looks in very good condition. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

The drivers belt on my Sept 2010 car is showing the same type of wear which also appears to be at the point the belt runs over my shoulder. I am 5'10" and have the seat set at 2 lifts on the manual height adjuster and a distance that gives a slightly bent arm driving position.
My initial thought is thet the belt is weaqring where it experiences contact movement with clothing.
Will be taking it back to dealers when I get back from my caravanning holiday.

Hi Snowy

I haven't had chance to get back to my dealers with mine - if you should sort yours out before I do can you report back on here as to what was said about it.

I will do so when I have an answer from the dealer.

I think this is going to be a common fault or maybe our seat belts have come from a bad batch !!!!

Been to the dealers this lunchtime with my FL.

They have photographed the faulty section of the belt to send on to LR.

I understand that there is still an issue with the belt and the B pillar.

Once LR have seen photo I was told that they would authorise a new one to be fitted and whatever it is they are fitting to the B pillar to prevent further issues.

Disspaointed that this issue has been known about for some time and that my relatively new FL still has the fault.

I suspect that all later model FL will have this inherant fault and will show up eventually dependent on the use they are given.

Will report back when I hear from dealer about what LR have said.

Mr Wolf

Just back from holiday and been on to the dealer but as I need a courtesy car while they have mine it won't be going in until 15th July. Will give feedback after that, but if you have any joy before then please update so I know what sort of reaction I might expect or better still have a point of reference to give them if required.

thanks Smile

Hi Snowy

LR have contacted my dealer and I take the car in tomorrow afternoon for a new belt & something to the B pillar to be fitted.

This should take no more than 1 hour but as I have some work in the area they are lending me a motor so I do not have to sit and wait while it is done.

No cost to me and LR appear to be satisfied that they have a problem.

I understand that there has been another recent bulletin by LR about it.

My FL went into the dealers this afternoon for the drivers seatbelt to be replaced on warranty.

I have been told that the new belt is made of a different material and that the fixing within the B pillar is now different as it is set at an angle?

The belt itself feels much thinner and smoother.

I suppose time will tell if this has solved the problem.....watch this space????

Simont will be pleased that I am no longer 'fluffy'.
