Traction Reduced Error - Haldex Unit

I've recently bought a 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS privately and after a few drives I started getting an error message of 'Transmission fault, traction reduced'. Yesterday it went for a service at an independent LR garage and they said it is a Haldex fault and would be best referring it to a LR dealer. The parting words were it's either going to be a new diff sensor or a full haldex unit. This doesn't sound like a cheap fix - does anyone have an idea of how much this will set me back especially from a LR dealer?

To make matters worse the heater fan is also really noisey. Again i'm told this is a big job to replace...

Mine had a new sensor and didn't fix the fault which had me worrying about the haldex needing replacing but luckily it was just a new pump kit. Make sure you ask about this first.

Try first to check Haldex oil level. I had one bolt holding valve cover broken, and oil went out causing Message "...traction reduced"

If it does turn out to be a true haldex fault I would contact LR directly and try to get it fixed that way. This sounds to me a production fault and in my view is a major issue which cannot be put to 'wear and tear'. Warranty should apply here regardless of time.

I'm not saying it'll work, but I heard that in some cases they do, so it's worth a try.
