Locking

Query:
If the car is parked, handbrake on, in gear, double locked and the battery goes flat overnight how do you unlock the car to access the bonnet release to get at the battery? Oh and the car is parked hard up on the nearside against a 6ft high brick wall!
I wonder whos bright idea it was to have the manual unlock facility in the nearside front door handle where its out of reach in this case?
I would have though the obvious place would have been on the drivers side as you always leave the car where you can open the drivers door but not necessarily the nearside doors.
Is there another way to get the bonnet open with causing any damage so the battery can be recharged.
I wouldnt fancy jacking it and dragging it sideways either.
Can find anything in the manual for this situation?

Not happened yet, but just thought what you supposed to do if sods law did happen.

I suppose you could yes, or lever open the bonnet or yank out the front grille, not a very good solution though to have to smash the car up to repair it is it?
All thats needed is the manual unlock facility to be fitted to the drivers side. Im sure Land Rover gave this matter a lot of thought when they designed the system ha ha, so there must be a proper way of doing it without damage?

someone on here had that problem in his garage, he moved the car across by jacking and tipping, then accessed the emergency key slot At work

When this happened to me I found that I still had enough power left to unlock the car (but not to do anything else). Otherwise the answer is probably to call LR Service!

The reason the manual unlocking is on the near side is because the car is designed to be LEFT HAND DRIVE and to make it right hand drive they change as little as possible. We are the poor relations Crying or Very sad It's the same on VWs etc.

Nice thought and of course you are correct, but it is by accident not design. On my last car a VW Passat the AUTO HOLD button, the one you needed for hill starts on the DSG Auto, was hidden from view unless you were in a LHD car. There's always a silver side to every colud but never lose sight of the fact that the b Censored s are after you.

all tractors are 'left hand drive' even though the steering wheel is in the center, gears controls etc being one the right of the driver etc. I'm left handed Evil or Very Mad At work
