No Cruise Control

Hi All, I've tried searching the forum, but the search feature is pants, so apologies if this is answered. Got my new one yesterday, and noticed this morning that the CC isn't working. I'm fairly sure that there is no trick for setting it up. Reckon I should complain? I'll look at the fuses, but as it only had 10 miles on the clock i doubt I'll find a blown one.
Any ideas? Indus Silver

my cruise control needs several presses of the buttons to wake it up but it then runs ok

the site search on here works ok if you select the right options, or try 'site:freel2.com cruise' on google At work

1: As you have only done 10mls in your new car may I politely ask - have you read your Owner's Manual on the subject of Cruise Control as there are a number of does n don'ts listed there.
2: CC will not engage below 18mls / 30kms ph.
3: CC will not engage if the vehicle (re manual box) is in a gear far too high for an existing low road speed.
4: CC will only engage with a firm press of the "+" button, and thereafter (e.g if you have disengaged CC by the use of the "o" switch or brake or clutch pedal but not with the ignition i.e engine off) and by the use of the "Resume" switch.
5: CC is not available with HDC engaged.
6: CC is not possible to engage with any Terrain Response special programme.

For a full and detailed explanation of when CC is possible and when it is not or how it is cancelled read the manual - it is full of very useful information for new FL2 owners, including where the CC fuse is located and what it looks like:

Fuse box under dash glove box - Fuse F7, 7.5amps, Colour Brown. Note that this fuse regulate the steering wheel's controls (except horns), so if the other button controls work then you need to investigate elsewhere for the "fault" if one does not reside with the user.

Sounds like this may be is his first CC?

Shame, as when he discovers how it works, he will quickly realise its not mucg use on our roads, always someone in front doing 1mph less then speeds up when you pull out!!

Thanks for the extremely condescending replies guys (except for the Farmer). As CG says, it is my second freelander, my previos one had, as perhaps research of an 08 GS would have shown if you are that bored. It also worked with special programmes selected. The car had 10 miles on the clock when I picked it up, by the time I realised it wasn't working, it had more than 100. I sometimes us CC when going through average speed camera stretches on the roads, and tha's about all. I will now go and waste time looking at the manual, which I read when I had my first one, but admittedly should have reread with reference to running in.

Not condescending or bored. But if you don't want helpful guidance and prefer to stick your head in the sand then do so. Reading the Owner's Manual is not a waste of time - many folks have found it to be a very valuable and time saving work of reference.

Just to add to Athelstan's list, I don't think the cruise control will activate until you have depressed the foot-brake at least once after engine start-up. I'm not going out at this time of night to check though!

Mine just works as per the book - no hard presses, foot brake presses and all that, - if yours doesn't take it back!

sorry for the lack of subtilty - Sunday lunch hic!.
