Loading new satnav disk

I'm going to buy some new satnav disks. Do I turn on ignition and eject the disk or will it eject without ignition on? And, do I place the new disk in while ignition on or off? I have read some disks take a while to load whilst others don't. Whats best way? Don't want to bu66er things up Whistle

The only "must do" is to have the engine running whilst the upgrade is working. Not certain just having the ignition is sufficient. I took the 'engine running' route so never tested the alternative.
It does take a while - be patient! Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

Really!
You'd have thought they'd have put an electric motor in the DVD drive. Wink

The English language (complete with implied assumption) at it's best... it was 8:10 am ... I'm amazed it made even as much sense as it did. Laughing Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

Mine took about 5 mins, others with the same upgrade took 10 - 15 mins.

Just a good excuse to go for a leisurely drive Thumbs Up

My last upgrade took nearly an hour - so be very, very patient! Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

When you say upgrade, does the new DVD come with a newer software version or just the mapping?

I am assuming that is does include a software upgrade as well as updated maps.
If it was just the maps I think it would be just a simple job of swapping the disks. I can't remember what happened exactly, just that it took forever and more than once I was wondering if it had stopped or failed. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I've have got the disks and it's a three disk pack. I think it just contains the mapping, is there any tell tale signs to say otherwise before I load the disk?

It's not just mapping - it'll contain code and patches for bug fixes, etc,.

That's why it takes longer for some and not others. Depends upon how update the code is. Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

Ah! Right! The disks that were in were 2006-2007 so I would have thought it would take a while, but would the software been updated when it's been in at land rover for services?

Very much doubt it - the software for the Sat Nav and maps are more than likley linked... they'd loose money if they did that for you! Rolling Eyes Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!
