United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Santorini Black

I have a few scratches on the bonnet sides of mine (santorini black). I initially thought they were from next doors cat, but on further inspection and a bit of sleuthing, I realised they were from the local jetwash. The hose isn't long enough to reach around the car and I had to hold the hose away from the bodywork (hose comes from overhead gantry). What happened was the hose caught the edge of the bonnet and any dirt, grit etc from the floor that was stuck to the hose scratched the car.
I don't use jetwashes any more, I bought my own Karcher. Thumbs Up

I bought a polishing foam from Machine Mart and use it with T-Cut in my cordless drill at around 800rpm. With a bit of effort it removes most scratches fairly easily. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

First of all you have to understand about paint, as a general rule the darker the colour the softer the paint is.
This is because more pigment is used to create the colour.

A black car is about the worst colour to get even though it looks nice. This is because more pigment is used
to create the colour, therefore a black car is going to show up sctratches more than say a silver car.

I had a black car once and I had no end of problems stopping a bloom affect everytime it was cleaned.

That may well be true, but you are not 'scratching' the paint. The paint is below a few layers of lacquer. So any colour colour FL2 will scratch the same, some colours just show it worse..... 2010MY Freelander 2 HSE Auto

Well, I have washed and polished it with turtle wax black polish and its looking much better, unfortunately when you know a markis there you are drawn to it. However, I have decided there are more important things in life to worry about so I am going to try and not notice the marks and just enjoy driving the car, I am looking forward to a snowy winter so I can get my own back on all the tree hugging greenies who attack me for my choice of vehicle (the chancelor never moans about my choice when I'm filling the tank up).
