Good idea and what Ive done way back in the past is to get hold of a couple of mudflaps off a twin wheel lorry. They are made of rubber and thick and robust and about 6mm thick. Go down to the commercial vehicle dealers and ask for a pair of twin wheel rubber flaps, they are normally just a flat rectangular sheet of rubber, AND if they have the dealer name on them they used to be free as it was classed as advertising material, clean off the name, which is usually just painted on, with some thinners and cut the flaps to size and screw into place or knock up a couple on metal brackets to fit them to. You can then have double width flaps that go further under the car than normal car ones ever would, especially useful at the front so the floor is still protected when the wheels are on full lock. |
