Hey guys,

First post here and I've been wondering... how do you remove/disable that silly bug net that pops up when the sunroof opens. No doubt it catches all the nats that welcome themselves to the car but I really would prefer it gone from an aesthetic standpoint.

It's there as a deflector aswell, to deflect the wind from the big piece of glass that's waiting to catch the wind and be torn off which would look a damm sight worse than a net Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Try holding down the deflector (get the passenger to do it!!) while at speed and you will find the 'booming' quite intolerable. The last car I had with a sunroof did not have the deflector and was a nightmare so I rarely used it.
I'm happy to use it on the LR2.

I must admit it doesnt look good but i couldnt agree more with the above posts, without it you probably wouldnt want to slide the roof back anyway defeating the object of removing it!

Just to add my 5-pence worth
As has been mentioned the bug-net works a treat also as a wind deflector. A quick vacuum suck every time you do the interior will remove most of the dead insects. As a wind deflector it works a treat as well

However if you think it LOOKS stupid and unsightly then I suggest you write a line or two to Mr. LR and tell him your thoughts on the design. I quite agree here with you goonyer10. In my mind, BMW have the BEST wind deflector design on their sunroofs. Driving my last 3-series I could cruise along the motorway with the sunroof open and even in light rain without getting wet or buffeted by wind. I must say I laughed when I opened the sunroof on the Freely for the first time, but you do get used to the ridiculous glass construction that some LR-fossil has designed. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
