Nut or no Nut - that is the question? | |
When cleaning the inside of the car this AM and grovelling around down by the brake pedal, I noticed that in the driver's footwell to the left of and above where the steering column goes through the bulkhead there is a bolt (M8ish) protruding through the bulkhead by about 1.5 inches but without a nut on it.
Is this normal or do LR owe me a nut?
grateful for replies. When I work it out I will attach a piccie

Thanks - That's probably the explanation - resting easier now!

[i"]The bolt is almost certainly engaged in a threaded hole, or a nut is welded into place on the bulkhead. It's simply too time consuming and unreliable to use loose nuts in assembly.[/i]"
Agreed, but it looks odd to have 1.5 inches of unused bolt protruding into the footwell.
Mass production is probably the reason - if they changed too much from a manual to an auto setup the price would probably double!
Thanks for your time.
