Don't "autos" display the selected gear on the little display - hence it does know which gear it is in... 2002 Honda VFR800

We are talking here about manual boxes, which are a little subdimensioned for the torque as it is... Not to mention a tuned-up engine. An auto is electronically controlled, so, indeed, there is info about the gear number. No need for switches. But on a manual box, there are only two switches for informing the engine ECU, 1st and Reverse. Follow the electrical schematics/diagrams and you'll see. |

The system is alot cleverer than that. The chances of you getting the revs perfectly right when coasting is very remote. The ECU also knows when the engine is under load. When your rolling down a hill and trying to match the revs in neutral, the ECU does not register any load. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Indeed, you're right, there is no torque/load. You may be right...

Just going back to the original thread...a very respected VAG tuner told me recently that VAG cars have now got a lot harder to map. To put it into perspective in his words, 'the people with the know how of how to get around the firewall protecting the ecu wouldn't waste their time on car remaps...they'd go for internet banking and the like'

In a word yes, We've mapped plenty without issue and one of our software engineers had a manual freelander 2 as his own personal vehicle for two years /40,000 miles so we know these cars well. DMF / Gearboxes / clutches fall apart with or without the help of a remap, I'd advise any client to have a moderate power and torque increase if they have concerns about DMF / Gearbox / Clutch issues. Thank you for the welcome ![]() |

I will be asking a very close friend to test Bluefin on his extremely new Freelander by the end of the week and let you know. He has been told by the MD of Superchips that the unit WILL work on the 2011 Freelander 2.................

What about JE Engineering or Alive Tuning? - They specialise in LR tunes, would have one done if I could afford the insurance afterwards! |

I'll bet you 2p that it won't work, they have a protected anti tune ECU that has to be removed ![]() |
