Shame you didn't go for the cold climate pack Sam. I got it for £250 when I got my GS last year. Well worth it last winter as it includes heated washer jets as well as the heated windscreen. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Almost wishing it would rain again to try out the tips here.

Wing - Might try the manual approach if I cant get auto to play nicely. Is it the button with the arrow pointing straight up that opens the vents for the windscreen?

Manual settings was the only way we could get comfortable with our last car - the climate control on that on 'auto' was terrible, either roasting or freezing with nothing inbetween, and the demister sounded like a hairdryer on steriods. By comparison the fl2 climate control is great - when its not raining.. hopefully the the advice here it'll be great even when raining Thumbs Up

Doc - sounds very useful, definately spec if for the next car - which will probably be another fl2 Smile

Mona/dunroof - what on earth could you mean Shocked like working up a sweat doing sit ups or some other rigorous exercise?

Yes that's the one, you might need to up the fan speed manually too by rotating the centre dial until it's cleared.
The heated screen is great in the winter for clearing frost and condensation from start, but the speed at which my screen occasionally mists over is frightening. I can start the car and occasionally within a couple of hundred yards be struggling to see through the windscreen, even the heated screen takes a minute or two to clear it, air con is best, but like I said I don't want to drive with it on all the time.

Bare in mind that 'Air Conditioning' does as its name suggests...conditions the air, dries it, cleans it etc. Cooling is almost a bi-product of these processes! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
