Hence the reason of daytime running lights. (mandatory on all new vehicles except LR's for some reason?)

Did my share of blinding people with my old Light force 240mm 120w spots! They were the best spotlights ever! |

So, when their drivers overtake at every opportunity and in any dangerous situation the poor sods coming the other way can see them and take preventative action!! (and to think it used to be the prerogative of BMW drivers only!!) ![]() ![]() |

If they bought something decent the lights would come on automatically, although you could get the situation I suppose where its raining but too bright still to switch the auto lights on. People may think oh the lights are automatic they will come on if they need to be on. Too much reliance on auto features is not necessarily a good thing. |

Auto lights are quite temperamental. Recently they worked fine when I went through the underpass in Derby and they duly switched off once I emerged into daylight again. However, the other day it was mega bright sunshine and they came on. They were adamant that headlights were needed but clearly not.

Personally, I think those who feel the need to switch on their lights at the slightest opportunity (include drl in this) simply should not drive if they need lights in daytime when it is broad daylight to see where they are going.
