ECO Stop/Start system fault on my 11MY Freelander 2

Took delivery of my Freelander 2 a month or so ago and since owning it i have felt the stop/start system to be erratic.

As a lot of other Freelander 2 owners have had as well i add.

Now though when i jump in and start the car the light on the switch comes on then goes off almost immediately. I also get a stop/start fault message on the message centre.

My understanding is this will need to be dealer checked because the light on the switch is going off.

Anyone else had this type of fault and if so what did your dealer find?

Was your freelander 2 off the road for a while? What got replaced to rectify the fault?

Thanks if anyone has any information.

The stop/start is erratic. One mo your sitting there radio and heater on waiting to the Mrs. outside Tesco, the next, it's gone into stop mode. I can't figure it out, so wouldn't worry. If it's getting too much for you, turn eco mode off, it doesn't make much difference in honesty.

Your right dunroof.

It is a feature that i don't particularly pay much attention too.

It's just because i'm getting the stop/start fault message on the message centre i will end up putting it into the dealer.

The fault comes up every time i start the car so after reading the countless posts on here about the stop/start being erratic i hope the dealer won't have a hard time finding a fault.

I just don't want the fault for the stop/start developing into something worse considering the car is only a month old.

Thanks for taking the time to reply dunroof.

My car is a couple of months old and stop / start has been working faultlessly. So far.

I rather like the serene silence when I'm sitting at the traffic lights. And restart is pretty much instant. The map is not the territory

Decided to have a look myself. Idea

Bearing in mind the car is literally 4 weeks old i was surprised to see a connector on the negative battery terminal disconnected.

When i connected it back up the ECO stop/start system switch on the dash lit up again.

Took the car a wee run and now it works OK.

I'll contact my selling dealer and let them know but its not a big deal.

Can only assume it came like that from the factory.

May be worth a look if anyone else has issues with their stop/start on 11MY

Anyway thanks for the views and replies guys.

New FL2 last June, 75 miles on the clock after a day on the road and I had cause to call out LR assist who arrived in the guise of the AA. Performed a battery check only to find the + terminal completely loose on the peg!

Would imagine a poor pdi with transit relay removal by supplying dealer imo.
Also, there is a list as long as a girraffe's neck of scenarios that (justifiably) won't trigger a stop/start event e.g. ambient temp, day of week, phase of moon etc.
